BARKLEY MAN...I LUV YA
BUT
The SATX area has PLENTY going on!!!
Let me start by saying I am not a Texan. I do however have family down here and I work and live part-time in the area. This does however qualify me to "enlighten" you and many others about the Lovely San Antonio area's visitor AMENITIES!
Sure, there is the Riverwalk with it's shops, eateries, hotels and boat tours. (Along with the new expansion that has a Lock System like a mini "Panama Canal"!) If you look further around the downtown area you will find the Needle which has Sweeping views of the city, Hill Country, a rotating sky restaurant and it has a FOUR Dimensional (Yes, 4D) Skies Over Texas ride in the base near the exterior elevators. The cost of the ride is included in the Price of Building Admission.
There are landmark buildings that serve as museums which include Institute of Texan Cultures, Pioneer family (Baking Company) home tour with Restaurant, the old Pearl Brewery and TWO old Quarry Sites that are now "Sprawling" shopping centers. (The Quarry at Alamo Heights - and The Shops at La Cantera) There is also a PGA Tour (Valero) golf course at the La Cantera area.
Speaking of Shopping.. The San Marcos Outlet Shopping Mall you speak of OFTEN is the "Largest Outlet Mall in North America" on the NAFTA Highway (I-35) and people come from as far North (Canada) and South (Mexico) and other Continents around the world to See and Shop!!
Speaking of Largest.. The Schlitterbahn Water Park on the outskirts of town is a Monstrous Wet and Wild FUN destination and is STILL the "Biggest in the World" with its Free parking, picnic areas and riding trams to get you to the different themed areas "Around the Water Town"!!
In Addition to those Attractions the Interior city limits has TWO..not one..YET Two Nationally Recognized Theme Parks! Six Flags Fiesta Texas boasts attractions such as Rides, and a Waterpark; BOTH for "one admittance price"!! It holds the title for #1 Show Park for 10 consecutive years!! (New Attraction Just Opening this Year.... 200 Feet High - 40mph SKY SCREAMER "Super Swing") Sea World of Texas boasts attractions such as the Wonderful Animals, Rides and a Waterpark also; THREE for "one admittance price"!!! (New Attraction Just Opening this Year....A Separate Park called AQUATICA in which you can "Customize" having animal interactions, cabana rentals, etc. at additional pricing)
The Dining experiences are as far reaching as the "Points of the World" and all right here in ONE COUNTY! (County of Bexar) From Tex-Mex to Cajun Fest or Asian Flair to Americana (with a little Fragrant Smoky Mesquite Wood added); this place knows how to attract your "Gastronomic Juices"!!
Just Think!! All of these things within an HOUR of the vast outlying San Antonio, TX Area!!
My biggest problem with boredom in this town?! I can RARELY get friends or family to come and visit at times!! Could it be that they have listened a Little Too Much to Sir Charles and his "View"?!
Sighhhh!!
This Old Town with SO much History, which includes "The ALAMO, as you see is MORE than "Sufficient" for its Visitors!!!
C'mon Sir and help me change this "Perception"!!!
With KINDEST REGARDS,
M
